Reflectors or Evaluators
In this episode your host Astrid explains what the key characteristics of the Reflector aura type is and shares her experiences with reflectors, the rarest type of the Human Design System. One of the key elements is the fact that they have more openness in their chart and are therefor more impacted by the energy of the group. In this episode we also dive into the transits of the Rave Mandala.
Key Take Aways
- The Reflector types are about 1% of the world population.
- The are excellent sampling the group dynamics in their environment.
- The strategy is wait a lunar cycle and in 28 day’s all their “inner buttons” have lit up once as they follow the moon’s cycle in the Rave Mandala.
- Reflections need more alone time then the 99% rest of the world population.
- Decision making is not easy so leave you marketing offers at least open for a month if you want to include the reflectors in your marketing efforts.
What type of the Human Design system are you?
Do you know what your type in the Human Design system is? No, then you can find this out within a few seconds!
Unlike the personal development tools like Disk, Insights or the Myers Briggs personality test you don’t have to fill out a personality test. In Human Design we look at the “energy” that was in the atmosphere during your birth.
For the calculation of your human design chart you only need to fill in your birth day, birth time and your birth place in the below form so you can Create your free Human Design Chart. Underneath the graphic of your bodygraph you will find what type you are!
What is a Reflector?
This blog is all about the fascinating world of the Human Design System. In particular, we’ll be exploring the Reflector Type. So, grab a cozy spot under the palm trees, and let’s embark on this journey together, shall we?
The Reflector Type, often referred to as the rarest of the Human Design types, hold a unique place in this system. Reflectors, they make up only about 1,44% of the population according to the statistics of the Jovian Archive, based on the 43 million charts in their database.
What sets Reflectors apart is their open and sampling aura, which allows them to deeply experience the energies and environments around them.
Reflectors have this incredible ability to mirror and amplify the energy of the people and places they encounter. Their open aura makes them highly sensitive to the group dynamics and to the moods of others. Reflectors are like energetic sponges, mirroring and amplifying the energy of the people and places they encounter.
How can you see in a Human Design chart if you are a Reflector?
You can recognize a reflector when you are looking at a Human Design chart and none of the 9 centers have a color in your chart. Perhaps there are half black, half red or black/red stripes in their chart. But there are no connected channels and therefore no defined centers. Often they have a lot of double gate definitions and if you look in the two rows of the 13 red and the 13 black numbers at the side of a Human Design Chart you see the same numbers displayed.
So reflectors have a lot of openness in their chart. And where you are open, you can be conditioned by the people who are around you and by the movement of the planets that we can transits.
What is the relationship between a Manifestor and a Reflector?
As we explored in the previous blog about the types in the Human Design system every type has a role to play in this world. Reflectors share a unique relationship with Manifestors. Reflectors, with their open and sampling aura, act as the canaries in the coal mine, offering valuable insights and guidance to Manifestors.
Manifestors, known for their innate ability to initiate and impact the world, look at the reflectors to see if it is time for change.
Reflectors have a remarkable capacity to sense and understand the energetic dynamics at play, both within themselves and in their surroundings. This deep sensitivity allows them to provide feedback and insights to Manifestors, helping them navigate their path with greater awareness and consideration for the collective.
And also during the proces of change it is the dynamic relationship beween the two types that help here. Manifestors can sometimes find it challenging to gauge the effects of their actions on others. Reflectors, being highly sensitive to energy, can serve as mirrors, reflecting back to Manifestors the consequences and impact of their decisions and actions and provide valuable insights and guidance.
So the relationship between Manifestors and Reflectors is a symbiotic one. Reflectors benefit from the initiatory energy and direction while Manifestors gain valuable feedback and awareness from Reflectors, enabling them to make more informed choices.
Have you ever met a Reflector?
I’ve encountered a few reflectors in my own personal Human Design Journey so far. Because they are so rare, everybody was really excited during a workshop that we had a reflector present. A reflector that knew something about Human Design because if you encounter a reflector in your environment that is not familiar with the system you would just think that he or she is a different type because they mirror their environment. You might recognize a lot of yourself in them in you are close to one. Because what you see is YOUR mirror. This person can be many things to many people.
But it was nice to meet an aware reflector for sure. It’s hard to describe the feeling, it’s was like she was the antenna for the collective’s groups feeling. Indicating when people where ready for a break for example. It was very obvious that this reflector operated on a whole different level than the Manifestors, the Manifesting Generators versus the Generators and the Projectors present. So let’s dive, how do they operate is this world that is clearly build for the Generators.
For my podcast Travel and Work with Human Design I interviewed a 6/2 Reflector who is not only a podcast host and podcast strategist, but also a Digital Nomad. Traveling the world and working remotely. Don’t underestimate a Reflector, they can build a successful business as good as any other Human Design Type!

The Strategy of a Reflector: Waiting a Lunar Cycle
Reflectors have a unique strategy called “Waiting for Lunar Cycle.” Unlike the other types, who are primarily influenced by the Sun, Reflectors are more attuned to the Moon’s energy. This connection manifests through their decision-making process and overall navigation in life.
As a Reflector, it’s crucial to wait for a complete lunar cycle, which spans around 28 days, before making important decisions or taking action. This waiting period allows Reflectors to gain clarity and avoid the potential pitfalls of rushing into things prematurely. It’s a beautiful dance with time, embracing the lunar wisdom that guides them on their path.
And to understand why they have to wait for 28 days. Let’s dive into the transits of the Rave Mandala. Because that is where the answer lies to this question. Your Human Design chart can also be displayed in the Rave Mandala. A round circle with all the 64 gates of the Human Design system layed out. This mystical mandala consists of the 64 hexagrams of the I-ching or gates how we call them as well. Each representing a specific energetic frequency or archetype. These hexagrams are further divided into six lines, resulting in a total of 384 unique hexagram lines.
Your human Design chart is a snap shot moment of the movement of the planets while you where born and 88 days before. But today the planets are also somewhere in the Rave mandala. The Sun takes approximately 365 days to complete on round through the Rave Mandala going through the 384 hexagram lines. So every 6 days there is a different energetic theme that is affecting us. Everywhere where you have openness is your chart is where you are being affected by others and by the transits. You can see it as “cosmic weather”. And just like a breeze of wind it comes in, it affects you temporary and then as it’s passed it is no longer affecting you anymore. And that is what a transit kind of is. It’s just a breeze of wind coming by.
However, Reflectors have a special relationship with these transits. For one because they have a lot more openness in their chart. And are therefor affected more strongly by the gusts of wind of the cosmic weather.
But there is another reason. Reflector are like mirrors, they are not the energy source themselves, but rather mirror the energy that is present in the environment. And guess what is doing that as well? Our moon shines bright in the sky during certain times of the month because it reflects back to earth the energy of the sun. The moon itself is not the shiny object in the sky it just a mirror of it’s environment. And the Moon travels through all 384 hexagram lines of the Rave Mandala in just 28 days.
The Decision Making Tool of a Reflector: Waiting for your Personal Lunar Cycle
So reflectors, you possess an incredible gift, the ability to sample and mirror the various energies of life as you journey through the transits of the Rave Mandala. Each day brings forth a new line, a new archetype to explore, and an opportunity to gain deeper insights about themselves and the world around them.
This means that as a Reflector, you have the opportunity to experience the different frequencies of al the 384 themes represented by these hexagrams lines in a remarkable dynamic way. It turns different buttons on within a reflector you could say. Temporary there might be a definition in channels and maybe certain centers being turned on.
And in 28 days the reflector has felt al the different flavors of the cosmic wind where the Manifestors, Generators and Projectors needs a complete calendar year to feel all those hexagram lines being light up.
And that is why a Reflector’s Decision Making tool is “Wait a lunar cycle”. Wait for all the buttons to light up their system before making an important decision because then they will gain the clarity what the right decision is over that time period. And for really really really important decisions maybe sometimes even wait “multiple lunar cycles”. Since the moon always travels through the same “Lunar Pattern” that is unique to you, tracking your patterns can be very useful. In my coaching program the Hexagon of Freedom this is a topic I work 1:1 with my Reflector Clients. We dive into their personal Lunar Pattern and I give them practical tools to track what activations have an effect in their decision making proces.
To fully embrace this reflective journey, it’s essential to pay attention to the lunar cycles and the corresponding hexagram lines. By observing your experiences and the energetic themes that emerge during specific periods, you can gain valuable insights into your own energetic fluctuations and the collective energetic patterns at play. This heightened awareness becomes a guiding light, helping you making decisions and live in alignment with your authentic nature.
Unfortunately, in today’s hectic world there is not always room to wait so long. Think about buying a house for example. There is no luxury of time to ponder of decisions like that in todays society. So in reality there are lot of decisions that are made FOR the reflectors. Decision making is no easy task for someone who feels different every day of this live. But if you want to allow reflectors to follow their natural decision making process, leave your offer at least a month open for example. And be mindful than not everybody can make decisions in split seconds.

The Not Self theme of a Reflector
And that brings me to the Not self theme of Reflectors.
All the types have a valuable tool to guide you on your journey—the concept of the Not Self and the Self Themes. These themes act as a compass, alerting you when you’re making decisions that lead you out of alignment with your true nature. Let’s explore the Not Self theme of disappointment and the Self theme of surprise that are unique to Reflectors.
The Not Self theme of disappointment serves as an alarm bell for Reflectors, indicating when they are not honoring their authentic selves. When Reflectors make decisions from a place of disappointment, they are likely to experience a sense of un fulfillment. It’s crucial for Reflectors to recognize this theme as a sign that they may be out of alignment with their true path.
On the other hand, the Self theme of surprise is a beautiful indicator that Reflectors are living in alignment with their true nature. When Reflectors are surprised, they experience a sense of delight and unexpected joy. They feel seen and heard by the group and that It’s a confirmation that they are on the right track, following their unique energetie flow, and embracing the magic of their reflective nature.
To navigate these themes, Reflectors can pay close attention to their emotional and energetic responses. When they find themselves experiencing disappointment, it’s an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reassess their decisions. Reflectors can embrace the Self theme of surprise by cultivating a sense of openness and curiosity. By staying receptive to the unexpected they allow the universe to bring forth delightful surprises and synchronicities. Literally, go with the flow.
Reflectors can also explore various experiences and environments, allowing themselves to be pleasantly surprised by the opportunities that unfold. It’s about staying present, embracing the unknown, and trusting in the magic of their reflective journey.
The Life Question of a Reflector
As a Reflector, one of the profound questions that shapes the journey is “Who are they?” This question reflects the deep desire to understand and uncover the essence of your their own identity. Let’s delve into this intriguing aspect of the Reflectors’ path.
Reflectors are constantly exploring the world around them and absorbing the energies of their environment. This natural curiosity leads them to question their own identity and purpose. “Who are they?” becomes a guiding light, urging Reflectors to dive deep into self-reflection and self-discovery.
To explore this life question, Reflectors can engage in practices that encourage introspection and self-awareness. Journaling, meditation and seeking solitude can create sacred spaces for Reflectors to connect with their inner selves. By nurturing this inward connection, Reflectors can uncover layers of their being and gain clarity on their unique identity.
It’s important for Reflectors to remember that their identity is not fixed or static. As they journey through life, their understanding of self may evolve and transform. Embracing the fluidity of their identity allows Reflectors to explore different facets of their being and discover new dimensions of who they are.
Tips for Reflectors
Reflectors need time in groups but also need a lot of time alone as well. So if you are looking at the ideal work setting for a Reflector then it is better to work in a solo office or airbnb, or you hotel accommodation, your house, your home office.
If you are traveling and you are a reflector and a digital nomad or location independent you can be in a busy coworking space. But you need to process all that energetic input as well. And we all spend a lot of time sleeping, so if you need more alone time, then create a way to sleep alone!
And that wraps up this blogpost and podcast episode about Reflectors. I am curious if these episodes about the different types resonates with you. And of course, what you are? Are you a Generator or a Manifesting Generator? Are you a Manifestor? Are you a Projector? Or are you a Reflector? In any case I hope you found this information useful.
Whatever you are embrace your unique design because we are all special. There is only one you in the world with your unique energetic definition, so you do you.
That’s it for today and I will see you next time
